This urban bench with Ecoplank boards comes from ZANO, a company specialising in modern urban furniture.
ZANO used Ecoplank recycled plastic boards for the seating and external finish of the bench. The long, narrow profiles give the structure a clean and consistent appearance and emphasise the simple geometry of the design.
Urban furniture needs to perform outdoors every day. Benches in public spaces face changing weather conditions, moisture and intensive use. That is why designers increasingly look for modern alternatives to traditional wood.
Ecoplank offers such an alternative. We produce the boards from recycled plastic, and they do not require regular painting or impregnation. This helps simplify maintenance and makes them well suited to outdoor applications.
This ZANO project shows how recycled plastic fits naturally into contemporary urban design. The material becomes part of a modern and functional piece of street furniture instead of simply copying the appearance of traditional wood.
Projects like this also show how recycled materials can work in more than terraces, fencing or large outdoor structures. They can also become part of carefully designed public spaces.
